Serving Companions Who Live At A Distance

At its 2016 Congress, the General Council of the Naval Order of the United States determined that a virtual Commandery be stood up to meet the needs of Companions who cannot participate in Naval Order activities because of their distance from one of the established, physical Commanderies. To meet these needs, the Continental Commandery:

  • Chartered at the October 2017 Naval Order Congress, having grown to nearly 100 affiliated Companions in its first five months of existence

  • Encourages our Companions' engagement in the Naval Order by monthly email outreach containing NOUS news and events; naval and maritime historical vignettes; and more

  • Publicizes Navy and navy-history activities of our Companions

  • Adopted Bylaws that meet the special needs of a virtual establishment

  • Works toward having a slate of elected officers ready to take the Commandery on its own independent and sustainable course by the time of the 2018 national Congress
