Companions,
Veterans' Day is observed on the 11th Day of the eleventh month with most parades and observances occurring at the 11th hour on that day. The significance was that this would be the 'War to end All Wars'. We know it didn't! We endured multiple conflicts since then with WWII, Korea, Cold War, Vietnam, Desert Storm, War on Terrorism, Afghanistan and other incursions we have dealt with. Through it all has been the Hallmark of our quest for Freedom, the American soldier, sailor, marine and airman. You have served on Land, Sea, Air and yes even in Space. Your wives, children and partners have stood by each of you as you 'Stood the Watch' to ensure that Freedom's light continued to shine.
It is now our mission in the Naval Order to preserve the Light of Freedom for our comrades and friends to pass on the efforts and experiences that must be known and understood so we do not have to 're-learn' those lessons learned in blood. I ask each of you to continue to honor those who you have served with and record those lessons wherever and however possible. Pass on the knowledge and insights that we as Veterans have observed so that future generations of Veterans can continue to enjoy the future benefits of Freedom which are embodied in the principles of our Country and our Heritage! Thank a fellow veteran; it will mean the world coming from a member of our brotherhood!
Warm regards and Thank you for your Service,
For the Good of the Order
Bob Whitkop, Captain, USN (Ret.)
