STEPHEN PHILLIPS

STEPHEN P. PHILLIPS is the producer and a podcast host for Preble Hall, a naval history podcast hosted at the U.S. Naval Academy Museum of the same name and Talk a Little, Learn a Lot, the podcast of the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE). A retired naval reservist that served in Surface Warfare and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Steve taught for five years at National Intelligence University (NIU) to include courses in history of the intelligence community. He has conducted book reviews for the Naval Historical Foundation and has appeared on the television series Combat Ships and Battlefield Okinawa.

Stephen graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1992 with a B.S. in Political Science, earned an M.S. in Strategic Intelligence at National Intelligence University in 2005, and completed a Ph.D. in War Studies in the Laughton Naval History Unit at King’s College London in 2022. A Poisoned Chalice: The U.S. Navy in the Persian Gulf, 1987-1988 (Potomac Books, 2026) is based on his PhD dissertation.
